The 6221EL is a digital RCD tester, suitable for testing three phase and single phase RCDs. Housed in a robust case for field use, the 6221EL is designed to test tripping time and tripping current of RCDs and display the readings to the user on it's built in LCD display. This instrument is easy to use and set up with the operator having to connect the leads to each phase (or just the active phase in the case of single phase RCD's) and set the rotary dial to the first L1 phase. When the meter is switched on, the user has the option of trip current or trip time, and after selecting one of these functions, just needs to specify if the test will commence from the positive or negative half of the sine wave. A rotary dial is used for setting the RCD current from 1-99mA and the user presses the START button to obtain a result. Without disconnecting any leads, the operator has to rotate the selector switch to L2 and L3 to complete testing of phases (This dial must not be rotated during the test being conducted).

An additional feature of the 6221EL RCD tester is it's built in phase sequence indicator, which allows the user to quickly confirm by a visual inspection of the meter, that all three phases are connected and live before conducting a test. The 6221EL does not require a neutral conductor for testing as the fault current is routed via the earth connection in the meter, and it will work with 50Hz and 60Hz electrical systems with voltage of up to 550VAC (phase to phase).
